OBJECTIVE To know the strategies of coping reported by the nursing team that works at a burn center. METHOD This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study carried out with four nurses and six practical nurses at a burn center in southern Brazil. The data was collected from September to November 2013 through semi-structured interviews, and it was analyzed through the content analysis technique, which happened with the software Atlas.ti 7.0. RESULTS Two themes have emerged: coping focused on the problem, and coping focused on the emotion. Among the main strategies of coping focused on the problem, decision-making and re-evaluation actions should be highlighted; and in the coping focused on the emotion, actions centered on resigned acceptance and emotional extravasation stand out. CONCLUSIONS As the professionals interviewed opted for objective and practical strategies, compatible with coping based on the problem, it is believed that the elaboration is influenced by the workers' individual, collective and institutional contexts.
OBJECTIVE Identify the risk factors that contribute to a NANDA-I nursing diagnosis of risk for frail elderly system. METHOD Cross-sectional study with 395 elderly subjects, conducted from November 2010 to January 2013, in a university hospital in South of Brazil. Sociodemographic data were collected and levels of frailty were identified according to the Edmonton Frail Scale. RESULTS A total of 177 (44.81%) participants were classified as frail. There was a significant association between frailty and being female (p=0.031), nonwhite (p=0.008), having no romantic partner (p=0.014), no schooling (p=0.001), a monthly income lower than the minimum wage (p=0.034), and preexisting morbidities for respiratory diseases (p=0.003) as well as infectious and parasitic diseases (p=0.040). Diseases of the tracts genitourinary (p=0.035), respiratory (p=0.001) and blood (p=0.035) were the primary reasons for hospitalization. CONCLUSIÓN Los resultados contribuyen para el desarrollo e implementación del diagnóstico de enfermería en estudio en el ambiente hospitalario.
Objective: To describe the use of the Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine - Clinical Terms (SNOMED-CT) as a model for interoperability of the nursing terminology in the national and international contexts. Methods: This is an integrative literature review according to Cooper, which searched for articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish, published between September 2011 and November 2018 in the BVS, PubMed, SCOPUS, CINAHL, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases, ending in a sample of 15 articles. Results: The SNOMED-CT is a multi-professional nomenclature used by nursing in different care contexts, being associated with other standardized languages of the discipline, such as ICNP®, NANDA-I, and the Omaha System. Conclusion: This review has shown that the use of SNOMED- CT is incipient in the national context, justifying the need to develop studies aimed at mapping the interoperability of existing systems of standardized language, especially NANDA-I, ICNP and Omaha System, in order to adapt the implementation of SNOMED-CT.
