The deterioration level of internal components of high voltage transformers can be inferred by the analysis of specific gases found dissolved in the insulating oil of the transformer. In this work, we have employed harmonic detection of spectral lines using DFB diode lasers, to implement a continuous surveillance system for trace gas detection as a route to transformer fault diagnosis. A detailed study was developed toward sensor optimization by using C 2 H 2 as a model target molecule. A novel design is proposed for field operation to allow specific gas monitoring of insulating oils of high-voltage transformers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
