1+1 protection" represents one of the latest methods in MPLS networks. Such method is available for premium customers and consists in traffic duplication by two different paths, in order to prevent informational link from failure. In this article, is presented the influence of this mechanism on the quality of service (QoS). The metrics which we refer are the average and standard deviation of transfer delay of one MPLS network flow. We considered that the delays in those two LSPs (Label Switched Path) paths are jointly distributed with normal random variables with a certain degree of correlations and a certain ratio between the path's delay averages, respective standard deviations.
Multimedia communication services over multidomain heterogeneous network infrastructure need end to end (E2E) guarantees for quality of services (QoS).In this context, the proper network dimensioning and traffic engineering of each network domain are significantly dependent on the accuracy of the of traffic demand estimation. The aim of this paper is to propose an algorithm, which estimates the future traffic demand based on current subscriptions, traffic projections and historical data provided by network monitoring. This algorithm is currently evaluated and implemented in the framework of the FP6 European research project named ENTHRONE II 1 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
