This research was carried out in the oil palm plantation of PT. MuliaSawitAgro Lestari (PT. MSAL) Gunung Mas Regency Central Kalimantan Province for 3 months starting in January 2019 until March 2019. The purpose of this study was to identify the potential of microorganisms as biofertilizers from palm oil mill effluent (PKS). This research is an exploratory study conducted in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Muhammadiyah University of Palangka Raya. This study used 3 (three) media used to identify the potential of microorganisms for biofertilizer from palm oil liquid waste by calculating the number of bacterial colonies namely Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC), pykovskaya media and Yeast Extract Mannitol Agar (Yema) media. The results of the analysis also showed that PKS liquid waste contained potential microorganisms found were phosphate solvent bacteria, cellulite fungi and nitrogen-fixing bacteria with an average bacterial colony of 1,700,000 cells/mL. Potential microorganisms from the proportion obtained showed the ability of bacteria found in PKS liquid waste to degrade the oil. The first and second samples of bacterial forms identified were in the form of bacilli and were gram-positive bacteria, while the samples of the three bacteria were in the form of coccus and the bacteria were gram-negative bacteria.
This study intended to know the effectiveness of E. purpurea as an immunomodulator against AI and ND antibody titer in male broilers, and conducted in December 2018 until January 2019 at Lapang Terpadu Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Antibody titer analysis was done in Virology Laboratory of Balai Veteriner Lampung. The study was conducted on 60 samples of Lohmann male broiler with four treatments, P0 (drinking water without E. purpurea), P1 (drinking water with 3 mg/kg BW/day E. purpurea), P2 (drinking water with 6 mg/kg BW/day E. purpurea), and P3 (drinking water with 9 mg/kg BW/day E. purpurea). The results showed that E. purpurea (Radix) was effective to increase Avian Influenza antibody titers and was not effective to increase Newcastle Disease antibody titers in male broilers. E. purpurea (Radix) at a dose of 6 mg/kg BW/day can increase AI antibody titer in male broilers. Keywords: E. purpurea, Immunomodulator, Antibody titer, Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease
Bligon goats in Bantul Regency are found in various agro-ecological zones, consisting of lowland and hilly areas, affecting reproductive performances. This study aimed to investigate the reproductive performances of the Bligon goats in different agro-ecological zones in the Bantul Regency. A total of 80 Bligon kept by farmers in the lowland and hilly area was observed and recorded. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically using the Independent Sample T-Test. The results showed that Bligon kept by farmers in the lowland significantly have better reproductive performances (P<0.05) than hilly area, in terms of first mating age (9.60 ± 3.22 vs. 11.07 ± 2.41 months), first kidding age (15.00 ± 3.23 vs. 16.70 ± 2.53 months), post-partum mating (4.75 ± 2.23 vs. 4.9 ± 2.34 months), and litter size (1.62 ± 0.58 vs. 1.37 ± 0.49). In contrast, the length of pregnancy and the kidding interval were not significantly different between the kept by farmers in the lowland and hilly areas. It was 5.07 ± 0.26 vs. 5.10 ± 0.30 and 9.32 ± 3.53 vs. 9.37 ± 3.83 months, respectively. It can be concluded that the Bligon goats kept by farmers in the lowland have better reproductive performance than hilly areas.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chicken manure and urea on the growth and yield of onion leaves on inland peat soil. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial with two treatment factors. The first factor is that chicken manure fertilizer application consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 5, 10 and 15 tons/ha, and the second factor is the provision of urea that consists of 3 levels, namely: 0, 125 and 250 kg/ha. The variables measured were plant height and fresh weight of the leaves of onion plants. The results showed that the interaction between chicken manure and urea fertilizer had no significant effect on all variables observed at all ages observed. Single factor giving 15 tons/ha of chicken manure fertilizer showed growth and better results on the average variable plant height and fresh weight of the leaves of onion plants in inland peat soil. Single factor giving of urea 250 kg/ha showed growth and better results on the average variable plant height and fresh weight of onion plants in inland peat soil.
