The determination of qibla direction in this era is not only for worship places, but it has become a necessity for certain locations such as restaurants, hotels and offices. About the far distance between Indonesia and Mecca, a more modern tool such as Theodolite is needed to determine the precise qibla direction. Theodolite is a modern tool that has become the national standard for determining qibla direction in Indonesia. Theodolite is an instrument that can determine the qibla direction accurately and precisely because the numbers on this tool show very detailed numbers. This research was conducted because the researcher saw that the direction of STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman Riau Islands college was still predictive, namely by facing west and then tilting to the right slightly. It is necessary to determine the qibla direction of STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman Riau Islands college using modern tools such as the Theodolite to produce a precise qibla direction. After calculating, it is known that the qibla azimuth of STAIN Sultan Abdurrahman Riau Islands college is 293º 03' 35.37" NESW (North-East-South-West).

Kelompok Nelayan Mina Kencana menggunakan Bintang Panjer Sore sebagai petunjuk arah kiblat ketika berada di laut. Bintang ini muncul pada waktu matahari terbenam sekitar pukul 17.30-18.00 WIB secara langsung. Dengan menghadap bintang itu lalu serong ke kanan berarti menghadap kiblat. Bintang Panjer Sore ternyata planet Venus. Venus tidak bisa digunakan karena mempunyai orbit sendiri sehingga posisinya berpindah-pindah. Dalam satu tahun 2012 hanya bulan Juni yang memiliki selisih azimuth terkecil antara Venus dan arah kiblat desa Jambu, yakni 0° 40’ 31,48”. Dengan demikian konsep ini bisa dikatakan tidak akurat.

The measurement of the Qibla direction using science and technology is an attempt to strengthen the prayer service. The more accurate the measurement of the Qibla direction, the more stable the belief in praying. The measurement of the Qibla direction of the Syaikh Zainuddin Mosque was carried out on February 11, 2021 with latitude data 01o 0.84’ south latitude, longitude 104o 30.67’ east longitude using the Falak Instrument, namely Aulatis. The position of the Qibla direction of the Syaikh Zainuddin Mosque is 23o 03’ 8.82” from the West point tilted to the North or 66o 56’ 51.18” from the North point tilted to the West or Qibla Azimut 293o 03’ 08.82” UTSB (North East South West)
