Abstract. The extraction processes of indium(III) from media of various complexing ability, chloride and nitrate, in toluene or chloroform, have been elucidated. Indium is extracted from 1 M nitrate medium as In(PBI) 3 with HPBI alone and as I n ( P B I ) 3 ( TO P O ) 2 with TO P O -H P B I mixtures, while it is extracted from 1 M chloride medium as In(PBI) 3 a n d InCl x (PBI) 3-x (TOPO) 2 . The complexation of In in the aqueous phases, the extraction of nitric acid and various solute-solute and solute-diluent interactions in the organic phases must be taken into account in the processes. The results are compared with those obtained previously with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-pyrazol-5-one under the same conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
