This paper presents a hierarchical modular structure for real-time control and monitoring of flexible manufacturing systems (F.M.S.) in which a clear distinction between processing of normal and unusual states is made. We show how this approach furthers autonomous diagnosis and recovery, because its allows to integrate two techniques well suited in their own domains: Petri nets for the specification of normal sequences of control and A.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
