Yttrium segregation behavior in Al-Si alloys has been studied using the threedimensional atom probe tomography technique. Al-Si alloys were prepared by casting method, and yttrium was added to modify the eutectic silicon morphology in these alloys. The results indicated that yttrium is preferentially located within the Si phase, with the highest concentration at the interface between eutectic Al and eutectic Si.
This article presents the results of an experimental and numerical activity for the characterisation of the containment capability of Waspaloy alloy, used for the case in aircraft engines. The ballistic facility is described and the impact experiments outcomes are discussed; some preliminary numerical simulations are also briefly presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
