Liver is an important gland of gastrointestinal tract having both exocrine and endocrine functions and it is having the extensive power of regeneration. Not only the adult liver, the foetal liver is an important organ with synthetic and haemopoietic functions. It develops as a ventral outgrowth During 3 rd week of gestational age from the gut endoderm in the region of the anterior intestinal portal.
Materials and Methods:We used Total of 27 formalin Preserved dead embryos and foetuses from 5weeks to 40 Weeks of gestational age of both the sexes with relevant obstetric records available in the department of Anatomy, Viswabharathi Medical College, Penchikalapadu, Kurnool for this study. Results: In the present study a total of 27 aborted embryos and foetuses of different gestational ages of both sexes of normal and abnormal were observed (table -1). The liver specimens are categorized in to gestational age groups of 0 -12 weeks, 12 -24 weeks, 24 -36 weeks and more than 36 weeks.
Conclusion:At 5-6weeks of gestational age we observed the aggregation of hepatocytes and early stage of haemopoiesis which is in agreement with literature. Delay in the Histogenesis and development of the liver cells and bile duct system leads to histopathological and developmental abnormalities gives knowledge to the clinicians during clinical procedures.
The higher herbal values of Eclipta Alba have a long history in the treatment of various ailments in traditional and folk medicine in many tropical and sub-tropical countries. Medicinal plants play a significant role in human culture and civilization. Eclipta Alba plant roots were powdered. By using simple soxhlation method, methanol extract was prepared. The powdered extract of Eclipta alba and methanol extract was concentrated and analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy to identify the biochemical components of Eclipta Alba root extract in the present study. A wide range of active ingredients such as 2- Thiophene carbaldehyde, 5-[5-(thien-2-yl) thien-2-yl]- 0.08%, Dodecanoic acid - 0.19, 9-Octadecenamide, (Z)- (CAS) OLEOAMIDE - 0.29, Loliolide – 0.37 and– 44.86. This study supports, methanolic extract of eclipta alba has potential antimicrobial, antioxidant and hepatoprotective activities.
Dandy-Walker malformation is a rare congenital defect characterized by agenesis or hypoplasia of the cerebellar vermis with cystic dilatation of the fourth ventricle, and enlargement of the posterior fossa. We present a rare case of Dandy-Walker malformation associated with a meningocoele and lissencephaly, in a female baby born alive but died soon after. There was agenesis of the cerebellar vermis and lateral displacement of cerebellar hemispheres exposing the dilated fourth ventricle, which communicated with a posterior cranial fossa cyst. Cerebral hemispheres with incompletely formed sulci and gyri were observed. A midline foramen in the occipital bone was seen through which the meningeal layer herniated from posterior cranial fossa. Complete antenatal examination, karyotyping & ultrasonography may help in early diagnosis and decision making.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
