The photolysis of CH3CCl3 has been investigated in the presence of I2 at room temperature. The results indicate that the reaction products CH3CCl2I and CH2CCl2 originate from two different excited states
CH3CCl3* is produced mainly at λ > 2200 Å, CH3CCl3** predominantly at λ < 2200 Å. The results are compared with primary processes observed in the photolysis of chlorinated ethylenes and other chlorinated ethanes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
