A preliminary study is provided of the effect of some grades of commercially available inorganic nanopowders on hardening of concrete based on alumina cement. It is established that there is an increase in concrete hardening rate and an increase in the ultimate strength in compression with use of micro-additions (~0.1 wt.%) of very fine aluminum oxide. Preliminary proposals are provided for a possible mechanism of the effect of these nanocomponent micro-additions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
