ChemInform Abstract Hydroformylation of the dihydrofurans (I) or (II) in the presence of the primary amines (III) gives the Schiff bases (V), whereas in the presence of the secondary amines (VI) the tertiary amines (VII) are formed.

Fax: 007 (095) 135 8895 Acetonytmalonaldehyde (1) was obtained for the first time by hydrolysis of 2,5-dimethox'y-5-methyltetrahydrofuran-3-carbaldehyde. The interaction of I with 3-amino-5-methylpyrazole, 3-amino-t,2,4-triazole, 2-arninobenzimidazote, and 5-aminotetrazole results in the formation of functionally substituted azolopyrimidines.
