The preliminary investigations of crude during resources of sugali tribes of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh with their recipes, preparation of drugs, administration, usage form several centuries. Fifty plant crude drugs (species) belong to twenty nine families were collected based on folk-lore knowledge. Botanical name, family name, part used, mode of preparation and administration and purpose, for which it as been used were enumerated.
An ethnobotanical exploration was carried out from 1985 to 1987 in Cuddapah District of Andhra Pradesh, one of the southern states of India. In this report, information on forty five species used in traditional medicine by local tribal people (the Yanadis, Yerukalas, Sugalis, and Chenchus) for treating different ailments is presented.
In vitro cultures of Argyreia nervosa (Hawaiian Baby Woodrose) was initiated form leaf of the plant on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium containing different PGRs. Callus induction was experimented by culturing leaf at different combinations and concentrations of PGRs. Best callus induction and fresh weight were obtained at 5.0 mg/l IAA+ 1.0 mg/l BAP. The callus maintained up to 2-3 months. Maximum callus induction and proliferation was noted at 5.0 mg/l IAA + 1.0 mg/l BAP. 2, 4-D gave less callus growth and smaller diameter than IAA and NAA. The callus tissues specifically obtained from leaf and stem explants dispersed in full strength liquid MS medium fortified with 3% sucrose and plant growth regulator combination of IAA (5 mg/l) and BAP (1.0 mg/l) was found best for establishing suspension culture for secondary metabolite production under in vitro condition. Increased sugar level gave better result in cell production and secondary metabolites production. Callus and cells produced equal or higher yield than original plants.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
