High-spin states in 165Hf, populated in the 13~176 5n) reaction, were investigated using the Berkeley HERA 7-ray spectrometer array. The previously known level scheme of 165Hf is appreciably extended. Intrinsic configurations, band crossing frequencies and aligned angular momenta are interpreted within the frame-work of the cranked shell model. It is suggested that the alignments of the second neutron pair and of the first proton pair in ~65Hf occur at tacos0.44 MeV and g0.48 MeV, respectively. The systematic trend of these alignment frequencies for the Hf isotopes and for the N= 93 isotones is discussed. * Present address: Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, 9747 AA
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
