Observations are made on the protons and neutrons simultaneously ejected from helium and lithium by 280 Mev bremsstrahlung. All photoprotons are found to be accompanied by a neutron. The results are interpreted in terms of Levinger's quasideuteron theory of photodisintegration. The results lead to a measurement of the low momentum spectrum in helium and lithium as well as identification of the high-momentum components of the momentum spectrum as due to two-particle interactions.
In several particle accelerators the growth of coherent axial betatron oscillations has been observed. In the Cosmotron these oscillations have been damped by an electronic system which detects the axial beam position and applies a signal of proper strength and phase to a set of deflection electrodes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
