Mg-Ca-TiO 2 composite scaffold loaded with different concentrations of doxycycline were prepared by space holder method. • Mg-based scaffold containing doxycycline possesses compressive strength of 5 MPa with porosities of 65%. • Antimicrobial activity of the composite scaffold increased with increasing doxycycline concentration. • Mg-based composite scaffolds containing low concentrations of doxycycline showed good biocompatibility. • These composite scaffolds showed good biological properties and desired drug release trend for bone infection treatment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
