Abstract:It is broadly assumed that modest and stable inflation rate stimulates economic growth of a country. Modest inflation encourages savers, enhances investment and therefore speed ups economic growth of the country. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of inflation on economic growth in Sri Lanka for the period of 1988 -2015 using the framework of Johansen cointegration test and Error Correction model. The results show that there is a long run negative and significant relationship between economic growth and inflation in Sri Lanka. These results support with the model of utility functions in consumption and real money balances, as exposed by Fischer (1979); De Gregorio (19930;Bruno & Easterly (1998) and disagree with the findings of Sidrauski"s (1967) super neutrality of money in the long run. The results are more likely to support the utility functions in real money balances and consumption.

Vol. 4, No. 4, 2016, pp. 188-193. doi: 10.11648/j.jfa.20160404.14 Abstract: Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play vital role in many countries including Sri Lanka, because of its role for the country's economic growth. This study discovers the level of awareness towards the importance of Accounting Record Keeping Practices and its information usage in the business. The research design is based on a survey methodology using a sample of systematically selected SMEs in Gampaha District in Sri Lanka. The target population comprised of 100 SMEs operating retail shops, manufacturing firms and supplier's of various services in Gampaha district in Sri Lanka. It was concluded that the most of the SMEs do not keep complete accounting records because lack of accounting knowledge and the cost of hiring professional accountants. As a result, there is an inefficient use of accounting information to support financial performance measurement by SMEs. This made it difficult for the entrepreneurs to calculate their business profit efficiently. Lack of keeping of accurate records was highly blamed on the lack of skills in this field by the owners or managers. The study further revealed that the owners and managers of SMEs were highly willing to learn more about how to keep accurate records of their business transactions. The results of the study also revealed that majority of the SMEs encounter problems of lack of accounting knowledge. This study recommended that that the responsible authorities should come up with an effective programme for training for SMEs entrepreneurs.
Increasingly, internship has become an essential component of the undergraduate degree programmes. It provides students with a smooth transition from on-campus environment to the working environment. It is often viewed as a 'win-win' situation for both the intern and the intern's employers. Students are able to learn about the profession and gain practical experience while simultaneously being able to reflect on what they have learned in the classroom. Employers benefit from internships because interns are sources of future employees. The relationship between Internship and academic performance on accounting degree is significantly under-researched. This paper examines the effect of accounting student internships on subsequent academic performance in one of the national universities in Sri Lanka. For this purpose post-internship course unit performance of students with accounting internship experience were considered. Readily available data on internship status, gender and prior achievement of accounting special degree undergraduates were used. Linear regression models were constructed using the data with undergraduates. Research finds that internships do a have a positive impact on learning and higher scores tend to have a higher GPA and gender is negatively correlated with GPA signaling that male students performed better than female students.
Today's economic growth is not promising without air transport, up-to-date airports infrastructure, efficient and safe airline services and international air transport networks. According to WB [1], 40% of the worldwide tourists travel by air transport. The main aim of this study is to analyze the literatures of air transport and economic growth study. A systematic literature review (SLR) method was used in order to examine related articles from ABDC list journals which are ranked on A*, A or B, published in period 1992-2018. This study gives a summary of the trends and research themes which have been identified. Key scholars, as well as their approaches and locations and citations are also mapped. The findings of this study show that there is a growing interest in researching and publishing on Air transportation and economic growth. This study fills a deficiency in specialized literature concerning air transportation in developing countries and provides a foundation for future research in the field of air transportation.
