Ce and Bi comodified iron garnet (Ce2.2Bi0.8Fe5O12) thin films for magneto-optic applications were epitaxially grown on a (111)-oriented Gd3Ga5O12 substrate by pulsed laser deposition. We found that epitaxial film quality could be achieved under a low-pressure Ar atmosphere. Surprisingly, our 1 μm thick epitaxial films showed a record Faraday rotation as high as 0.55 deg/μm, a value strongly dependent on the concentration of Bi3+ ions.
The natural line of the incoherent quasi-elastic neutron scattering law of liquid potassium has been obtained from experimental double-differential scattering cross-sections at the temperatures of 340, 440, and 550 K for wavevector transfers in the range of 0.27 Q 1.13 Å−1 . The full width at half maximum of this line as a function of Q 2 has been analysed on the basis of several diffusion models. It has been found that the self-diffusion process in liquid potassium has an individual and activationless character and can be approximately described by means of the mode-coupling theory at temperatures noticeably more than the melting point.
We study experimentally the interactions between normal solitons and tilted beams in glass waveguide arrays. We find that as a tilted beam, traversing away from a normally propagating soliton, coincides with the self-defocusing regime of the array, it can be refocused and routed back into any of the intermediate sites due to the interaction, as a function of the initial phase difference. Numerically, distinct parameter regimes exhibiting this behavior of the interaction are identified.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
