Mathias S. Wickleder was born in Bergen, Germany, in 1965. He received his Dr. rer. nat. degree at the University of Hannover under the direction of Professor G. Meyer in 1994. Thereafter he joined the group of Professor H. U. Gu ¨del, Bern, Switzerland, as a postdoctoral fellow for two years. In 2000 he finished his Habilitation at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry in Cologne. His research interests include the structural chemistry and thermal behavior of rare-earth and transition-metal compounds with complex anions.

Die ternaren Chloride Li3ErClh, Li3YbClh und Li3ScC16 kristallisieren nach rontgenographischen Untersuchungen an Einkristallen in-drei verschiedenen Strukturtypen. Li3ErClh (trigonal, P3ml, Z = 3, a = 1117,7(2); c = 603,6(2) pm; isotyp rnit M = Tb-Tm, Y) und Li3YbClh (orthorhombisch, Pnma, Z = 4, a = 1286,6(1); b = 1113,2(1); c = 602,95 (8) pm; Li,LuClh ist isotyp) haben sehr ahnliche Strukturen, die sich als hexagonal-dichteste Kugelpackungen von Chlorid-Ionen rnit zum Teil statistischer Auffiillung der Oktaederliicken mit Kationen beschreiben lassen. Li3ScClc, (monoklin, C2/m, Z = 2, a = 639,8(1); b = 1104,0(2); c = 639,1(1) pm; /I= 109,89(1)") kristallisiert isotyp rnit NasGdIh und Li3ErBr6; die Anionen bilden hier eine kubisch-dichteste Kugelpackung. Proton nuclear magnetic relaxation dispersion (NMRD) profiles were recorded between 0.24 mT and 1.4 T for lanthanum(III)- and gadolinium(III)-containing [15]metallacrown-5 complexes derived from alpha-aminohydroxamic acids and with copper(II) as the ring metal. The influence of the different R-groups on the proton relaxivity was investigated, and a linear relationship between the relaxivity and the molecular mass of the metallacrown complex was found. The selectivity of the metallacrown complexes was tested by transmetalation experiments with zinc(II) ions. The crystal structure of the copper [15]metallacrown-5 gadolinium complex with glycine hydroximate ligands is reported.

Stressabbau: Selbstorganisierte Monoschichten aromatischer Moleküle zeigen eine wesentlich bessere Ordnung, wenn als Ankergruppe Selen‐ statt Schwefelatome verwendet werden. Vermutlich führt eine geringere Korrugation der Au‐Se‐Wechselwirkung dazu, dass die Moleküle leichter Strukturen annehmen, die von den aromatischen Grundgerüsten vorgegeben werden.
