Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem auto-immune disease with wide spectrum of clinical and immunological abnormalities including development of auto-antibodies against DNA and other nuclear antigen. All organ tissues may be involved but the skin, joints, heart, nervous system and kidneys are most commonly affected. Clinical evidence of renal disease occurs in 40 to 75% of patients with SLE.
