Airlines today use e-services extensively for marketing activities and the distribution of services. Monitoring and evaluating e-service quality are essential for customers’ satisfaction and thus the success of airlines. This study aims to evaluate e-service quality in the airline industry from the point of view of the consumers. To achieve this, an integrated Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) and Fuzzy Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to Compromise Solution (F-MARCOS) approach was proposed to handle the uncertain and imprecise nature of e-service evaluation. In the first stage, e-service quality criteria were prioritized using the F-AHP method. Then, a real-world case study was carried out on scheduled airlines to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach using the F-MARCOS method, utilizing a total sample of 395 airline passengers in Turkey. As a result, the top three e-service criteria were found as reliability, understandability and security. A three-stage sensitivity analysis was also conducted to examine the credibility and stability of the results. This study is the first study to integrate F-AHP and F-MARCOS methods for the first time in literature.
This paper aims to draw lessons from retrospectively evaluating the evolution of the air transport discipline right up to the COVID-19 outbreak through the Journal of Air Transport Management (JATM), the main scholarly air transportation journal globally. As such, this study deploys a comprehensive bibliometric analysis and graphical mapping of the JATM knowledge body through CiteSpace visualization of 1483 JATM papers from 2001 to 2019. Our results suggest that while the industry has experienced pandemics and economic crises in the past, both were not dominant in influencing JATM literature neither in frequency nor in impact. That said, recovery, crisis and disruption are important key words in JATM papers not just in regard to safety and economic crisis management but increasingly also related to health concerns with recent key papers published in the pandemic and recovery management context which may have helped the industry dealing with the current crisis as well as current JATM papers on this topic assisting with preparing for a transitioning out of COVID-19 world.
Aircraft selection is an important issue in achieving long-term goals in the airline industry. For this issue in which multiple conflicting criteria are involved, the extant literature points to the use of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. In this respect, this study aims to propose a systematic and comprehensive framework with a focus on the regional aircraft selection perspective. To achieve this, an integrated fuzzy Pivot Pairwise Relative Criteria Importance Assessment (F-PIPRECIA) and fuzzy Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to the Compromise Solution (F-MARCOS) approach was employed. In this study, in which six regional aircraft alternatives were evaluated according to 14 criteria, data were collected from five decision experts. As a result, it was found that the most pivotal criterion is C33 (Operational Cost), and the least important criterion is C12 (NOx). In addition, CRJ1000 was identified as the most promising regional aircraft alternative. The results of the application were further validated by applying a three-stage sensitivity analysis. The proposed structure is anticipated to assist airline managers in aircraft selection decisions under uncertainty by offering a robust and systematic tool.
Due to rising environmental concerns, green innovation has become a familiar and appealing topic worldwide in recent years. In addition, population growth, globalization, urbanization, and industrialization have given rise to many problems, such as damage to the environment, the economy, and the living conditions of society. This paper aims to evaluate and prioritize aspects of green innovation, taking into account sustainability performance indicators. FUCOM-MARCOS hybrid methods were used. The experimental results of the proposed method showed that management technological innovation (C1) is the most influential part for adopting green practices in the textile industry in Nigeria. The study also showed that greening the supplier (C6) and product technology innovation (C5) are the second and third most important aspects of green innovation. Furthermore, it analyzed the sustainability performance indicators using the MARCOS method. The findings reveal that social performance (SPI-3) was the most sustainable and vital indicator in terms of green innovation practices in the textile sector in Nigeria. Sensitivity analysis was also conducted using five other methods, and the results obtained showed stability in the order of the indicators.
