Purpose This study aims to examine the adoption of peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms to determine the factors that encourage SMEs to use P2P lending platforms in obtaining loans. Design/methodology/approach A sample of ten SMEs from a variety of backgrounds was taken in Bandung, Indonesia. Bandung has been awarded the title of “creative city” by UNESCO, as the city allows for the development of the creative economy. This research used a semi-structured interview. Coding method was then used for content analysis to establish which factors emerging from the interview were leading respondents to obtain a loan through the P2P lending platform. Findings The findings imply that loan processes, interest rates, loan costs, loan amounts and loan flexibility affect SMEs in obtaining a loan through P2P lending. Moreover, alternative payment schemes in the form of Sharia-based lending and profit-sharing schemes were found. These findings constituted the original findings of this study. Research limitations/implications The study offers findings on factors affecting SMEs in using the P2P lending platform as a form of alternative financing. Moreover, the theoretical framework provided can be used as literature in future research. As this study was conducted in Bandung, Indonesia, the findings may not be generalisable to other regions. Originality/value This study is one of the few studies that discusses P2P lending in Indonesia as the concept has been in practice only since 2015.
The negative global sentiment, Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused several listed companies in Indonesia to conduct a stock repurchase in the hope of maintaining and increasing the company's stock price. The research objective is to analyze the effect of stock repurchase announcements on market reactions that are reflected in abnormal return and trading volume activity in 2015-2019 as a guide for companies to make decisions in the present and the future regarding the same issue. This research uses a sample of 64 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the observation period. This study uses the event study method with the significance of the hypothesis test of 0.05. The results showed that there is no significant difference between before and after stock repurchase announcements for both variables. This is caused by the presence of negative sentiment throughout the observation period such as the Brexit tragedy, elections in the US won by Donald Trump, and the issue of the trade war by the US-China, this makes the market does not yet have full trust in the Indonesian capital market. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the stock repurchase announcement did not have a significant effect on the market reaction.
PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company whose risk management practice is still categorized as an inefficient one which indicates the failure in the operations of the Enterprise Risk Management Department. Recently, there is no previous risk management research carried out on the implementation of risk management itself or which in this research explained as an operational risk at Department of Enterprise Risk Management in PT. XYZ. The aim of this research is to do risk analysis within the operations of the Enterprise Risk Management Department in PT. XYZ. Risk analysis was carried out using the ISO 31000: 2018 framework with qualitative approach which is only limited to the process of risk identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation, and risk treatment option selection. According to the analysis that has been carried out, 17 risks have been identified with 3 different types of operational risks, namely process, system, and people. From the assessment for each risk, the result shows that 9 risks are high risk, 7 are moderate risks, and 1 low risk which means that there is a need for mitigation actions for most operational risks that have been identified to reduce the level of likelihood and consequence of those risks.
