Developing sustainable, inexpensive material has been proposed as a promising catalyst. Herein, we report the synthesis of new hybrid material composed of carbon nanoparticles entrapped in iron vanadate. Thus obtained new material was characterized using SEM, PXRD, Raman and XPS.The catalytic potentiality of CNP/FeVO4 has been tested in the oxidation of biomass derived hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in an aqueous medium. An enhanced conversion of 5‐HMF to diformylfuran (DFF) is observed in the presence of CNP/FeVO4 than FeVO4 alone. The absence of expensive metals and using only water as a solvent, along with recyclability of catalyst make our catalytic method green and attractive.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
