Quality is conformance to requirement and meeting stated as well as implied needs of customer. The word quality is derived from Latin 'qualis' means 'of what kind' and encompasses composition and properties of object. Quality is of paramount importance when it is specifically related with drugs. And when it comes to herbal drugs, because of several reasons is a herculean task. The quality of pharmaceuticals has been a concern of the World Health Organization (WHO) since its inception. The setting of global standards is requested in Article 2 of the WHO Constitution, which cites as one of the Organization's functions that it should "develop, establish and promote international standards with respect to food, biological, pharmaceutical and similar products". The World Health Assembly -in resolutions WHA31.33 (1978), WHA40.33 (1987) and WHA42.43 (1989) -has emphasized the need to ensure the quality of medicinal plant products by using modern control techniques and applying suitable standards. This manual describes a series of tests for assessing the quality of medicinal plant materials. The tests are designed primarily for use in national drug quality control laboratories in developing countries, and complement those described in 'The international pharmacopoeia' which provides quality specifications only for the few plant materials that are included in the WHO 'Model List of Essential Drugs'. In this review, we have addressed some important issues related to quality of botanicals and discussed possible application of total quality management for herbal drugs.
Security and safety are two important features desired in pharmaceutical supply chain and achieving the same is a challenging task. The need to secure and authenticate pharmaceutical products has increased tremendously with the emerging counterfeit product market. The motivation to introduce counterfeit pharmaceutical products in the supply chain could be to gain rapid economic benefits or affecting the reputation of strong brand in the pharmaceutical industry. RFID technology can be used to deter counterfeiting attempts. It can also be used in various other domains in the pharmaceutical industry. The main aim of this paper is to outline all the applications of RFID in the pharmaceutical industry. After explaining the main applications, we discuss how information hiding techniques could be used with RFID to offer efficient expiry date management, pharmaceutical tamper detection, and fraud detection and prevention.
Pharmaceutical and healthcare industries are highly regulated industries in each and every nation around the globe. Every nation has a governing body like USFDA, TGA, and M.H.R.A, Schedule-M etc. that assures that the medicines are manufactured under strict guidelines to ensure highest quality of manufactured products. However assuring high quality products requires that the manufacturing facility is monitored 24x7 and this monitoring requires the use of high end networking technology. Currently pharmaceutical plants capture this information using a number of scalar sensors that measure temperature, pressure, humidity etc. In some developing nations this sensed information is manually recorded by a supervisor in charge. This often results in data entry errors that need to be addressed. This paper aims at identifying current technologies that can be used by Indian Pharmaceutical Industries to capture this information and process it in real time to provide the kind of track and trace which so far is not implemented in majority of Indian pharmaceutical companies. We specifically focus on identifying the importance of Wireless Sensor Networks and how it can be implemented in pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANETs) is a temporary wireless network, which is self-configuring in which nodes moves freely and continuously. It consists of a collection of wireless mobile nodes which dynamically exchange data among themselves without the reliance on a fixed base station or a wired resolution network. Due to its mobility and self-routing effective nature, there are many deficiencies in its security. Various security threats show their impact at different layer. Wormhole attack is a network layer attack observed in MANET, which completely disrupts the communication channel. Among all of security thread worm hole is consider to be a very serious security thread over MANET. In wormhole two selfish node which is geographically very far away to each other, makes tunnel between each other to cover their actual location and try to believe that they are true neighbours and makes conversation through the wormhole tunnel. The goal of this paper to study wormhole attack, some detection methods and different techniques to prevent network from these attacks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
