ABSTRACTTo show the efficacy of acupuncture to relieve symptoms caused by sequelae caused by myelomeningocele in a case report. The conventional treatment of this disease does not always allow a satisfactory quality of life, challenging the development and other unconventional approaches. In this report, we evaluated the use of acupuncture in patients with constipation due to myelomeningocele with satisfactory results after three sessions of acupuncture. Despite the good results presented, further studies are needed to corroborate the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders of organic causes.
