This study presents a methodology generated for the preventive conservation of defensive earthen architecture, applied to the case of the Lojuela Castle (Lecrin Valley, Granada, Spain). In the application of the designed protocol, a multidisciplinary analysis of its patrimonial characteristics and multidimensional evaluation was developed, applying the technique of qualitative consultation to a group of experts—the Delphi method. This methodology allowed us to relate the hazard factors and the vulnerability of the asset for each group of risks that affect it. The support of the method in with geographic information systems (GIS) has favored the production of predictive cartography and risk analysis—including the territorial dimensions and spatial interactions of the asset with the physical environment. This has facilitated the obtention of micro-zoning maps of each of the risks examined. The risk mapping in micro-zoning and the knowledge of the structure’s vulnerability represents an important contribution to the future conservation and management of this heritage. They favor strategies that minimize the incidence of risks and allow the prioritization of the conservation actions with a minimum economic investment, creating an efficient maintenance program. This will facilitate the protection, conservation and valorization decisions by the administration and the competent bodies involved in the protection of these sites.
The aim of this article is to present the main aspects of the methodology employed in my research concerning artistic transfers in the late medieval Mediterranean from Islamic to Christian art, with a special focus on the Iberian Peninsula. The starting point of the research was the selection of certain artistic elements incorporated into western Islamic art during the Almoravid period (in particular, the muqarnaṣ and the pointed-horseshoe arches), to analyse their spread in western Islamic art and beyond. A Geographic Information System (GIS) was applied to create two databases and assess the distribution of these elements in the Mediterranean framework between the 12th and 15th centuries. As a result, different analyses and cartographic material developed with the GIS are thus included in this work. The GIS made it possible to analyse not only geographic aspects of the distribution of these elements but also other complex phenomena related to the muqarnaṣ and the pointed-horseshoe arches in a quantitative way, which allowed me to raise some preliminary hypotheses concerning the use and distribution of both elements in the Mediterranean framework.
La presente investigación analiza el Proyecto “Patrimonio Herido”. Este se engloba dentro de las acciones de innovación educativa desarrolladas por el “Laboratorio de Competencias Transdisciplinares de la Universidad de Málaga (TransUMA)”, que es resultado del proyecto de innovación educativa de la Universidad de Málaga PIE17-123 y que continúa en el marco “PIE19-178 Imaginando futuros posibles”. Con él pretendemos que el alumnado de diversas disciplinas implicadas en la tutela patrimonial se acerque a la misma realizando un estudio de casos según su área de conocimiento y conozcan la importancia del trabajo transdisciplinar, así como su aproximación social. La metodología utilizada ha sido la crítica en tanto que hemos analizado el trabajo realizado desde 2020 a 2022 con objeto de evaluar su desarrollo y plantear modificaciones de mejora. Así, a continuación, presentamos el proyecto desde su germinación, llegando a su situación actual, para terminar por plantear los retos futuros del mismo. Para conseguir este último objetivo hemos realizado un DAFO que nos ha permitido proponer mejoras de cara al curso 2022/2023.
