<p>This review will conduct searches in the Scopus databases and EBSCO Host platform on self-management practices amongst patients with type II diabetes mellitus in preventing possible complications.</p><p>The purpose of this review is to identified practices and lessons learnt from the findings to help develop a culturally appropriate intervention for prevention of nephropathy among patients with type II diabetes mellitus living in a lower middle income country rural setting.</p><p>The review will be guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute approach to conducting scoping reviews as outlined by Peters et al. (2020).</p>
