The first description of a fossil representative of Paratrombiinae from the Rovno amber, Paratrombium rovniense sp. nov., based on an unengorged larva, is provided. The discovery results in a re-definition of the Paratrombiinae and of Paratrombium, which also comprise species with two pectinalae on coxa I.
A new species of the Hypogastrura trybomi group is described from Shanxi province, China. Because of the presence of prolonged maxillary lamellae and 6 setae on the dens, H. manghe sp. nov. resembles H. hexasetata Jiang & Yin, 2010. H. yosii Stach, 1964, equal to H. sheyangensis Jiang, Tang & Chen, 2010, is redescribed based on syntypes. The latter species was recognized as a junior synonym of the former. A key to the Chinese Hypogastrura Bourlet, 1839 species is also given.
Propolyssenia gen. nov. with Propolyssenia wohltmanni sp. nov., based on larva, and Eothrombium fortesambiense sp. nov. based on active postlarval form, are described from Baltic amber. The new genus shares some characters with the extant Polydiscia and Lassenia. The new species are among the three fossil amber representatives of Tanaupodidae known to date. The present-day fauna of Tanaupodidae is revisited.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
