While there has been a decrease in the number of SA infections in 2014, the decrease is not statistically significant. Mechanisms for staff education, implementation, assessment and feedback must be further developed to optimize compliance with SA preoperative decolonization. The program must have continued active support to have a statistically significant impact on SA infections in the neurosurgical patient.
