The advantages of CMOS over CCD image sensors are low-power consumption, single supply voltage, and on-chip system integration. However, CMOS image quality is below that of CCD, especially for low light level imaging. This CMOS image sensor uses high-gain adaptive column amplifiers and pinned photodiode technology with an enhanced pixel driving technique. The dynamic range determined by the random noise, the fixed pattern noise and the saturation signal levels are shown to be comparable to the standard CCD image sensor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
