Abstract:The purpose of our study was to develop a computer aided system for designing and fabricating removable dentures (CAD/CAM system). In our newly developed system, anatomical and morphological information of denture space including edentulous residual alveolar ridges and surrounding tissues were obtained from a maxillomandibular double impression mounted on a high speed 3-D laser scanning machine. Artificial teeth arrangements, outline of polished surface, and denture border location were determined at a work station by means of the database of a standard denture fabrication. Then 3-D data established at the work station was transferred to a 3-D laser lithography machine and a mandibular complete denture was fabricated with photo-cured resin material.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
