Hypobaric hypoxia causes a reduction in blood pressure of oxygen, which causes a significant decrease in the ability to produce energy, reducing the maximum consumption of oxygen. Acute responses are triggered, while adaptive responses are instituted. In order to adapt to altitude, it is necessary to implement specific nutritional measures that will be definitive in order to favor this process. Measures must be put in place to prevent catabolism, to reach nutritional adequacy, hydration status, for protection against oxidative stress, as well as to favor an increase in oxygen transport capacity. These measures should be periodized according to the training plan, the type of sport and other individual variables.
