Transportation is an essential element for the development of countries economically, socially, and culturally. The progress in countries is measured through the progress in transportation systems and urban road network. Al-Fallah intersection which lies in northeastern of Baghdad city considered one of the highly congested urban centers, suffers congestion, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. The objective of this study is to analyses the delay time, degree of saturation, level of service in Al-Fallah intersection in Baghdad city using Synchro.10 software in addition to evaluate and analyze the intersection formchoosing the best suggestion. The technique of video recording has been used for collection the traffic volume data for all approaches from 7a.m to 4 p.m. for three days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The operation analysis of isolated signalized intersection provides valuable and important information about the performance of transportation system in the city.The through movements of Al-Fallah Street illustrate the movement from center of Al-Sadir city to Al-Rusafa and reverse, they represent the heaviest traffic volumes in Al-Fallah intersection. The Results of analysis specified that the Al-Fallah intersection works under level of service F with an average control delay of (322.1) seconds per vehicle and degree of saturation (2.56) v/c during the peak hours.
Computer simulation can be of high importance to analysis geometry regarding the signalized roundabouts and intersections that are related to systems of urban streets. The major goal of the presented research is analyzing geometry as well as the intersection classification that is related to traffic flow, as well as enhancing the capacity related to intersections for road networks, also relieving city’s congestions. Data on number of vehicles passing through Mudaffar roundabout have been recorded through the author of the presented study from seven in the morning to three after noon for 4 days. Sidra software was adopted to analyzed the data. The results have indicated that the level of service (LOS) regarding the present conditions in the discussed roundabout has been F, and with average delay (303.6 sec/veh). There are two proposals will be used to the developing of the roundabout. The best results indicated that the LOS for present condition of Mudaffar roundabout is C with (26.4 sec/veh) of average delay.
For evaluating the urban roads as well as the express ways, the simulation software are considered to be of high importance. The experts of transportations are concentrating on dissemination and arrangement regarding roadways’ traffic jams. The main aim of this present work is to analyze the present situation of traffic in Wahran round-about Baghdad/Iraq/according to certain consistent traffic count using SIDRA software through calculating the level of service, delay time, travel time, and degree of situation. The author of his work recorded the number of vehicles passing Wahran Roundabout for two peak hours, morning peak hour from (7:30 to 8:30 a.m.), while the evening peak hour from (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.). The performance related to the present intersections has been assessed through the use of a simulation model. The results have indicated that the level of service (LOS) related to Wahran Round-about is F of (111.3 sec/veh) average delay and degree of saturation has been (1.737 v/c).
