BACKGROUNDForeign body (FB) ingestion is a common clinical problem seen in an Otorhinolaryngology Clinic in our day-to-day practice. The complications related to foreign body ingestion even though not common, can occur and the morbidity may be severe and life threatening. There is not much published data about the risk factors for complications. Hence, this study was conducted at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram to detect the prevalence of complications in ingested foreign bodies and to identify any risk factors for the development of complications.
