injury in a developing country. This can aid in comparing the same to that of developed nations, and illustrate the global trends of these injuries.Another limitation of this study is that identification and division of the various pure orbit fractures were not studied; however, this study strives to draw focus toward concomitant ocular injuries in maxillofacial trauma which also involve the bones forming the orbit. These may go unnoticed and later present as a serious complication, thereby incapacitating the patient. This may prompt future studies which specifically focus on the association of ocular injuries to specific isolated orbital wall fractures, in conjunction with the ophthalmology team. Long term and continuous record management made it possible to correlate ocular injuries in maxillofacial trauma patients. This calls for better interdepartmental support and coordination for the best prognosis of the patient.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
