The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) has developed and applied various strategies to ensure successful integration of the hydraulic computer model into its operations. This paper describes the process and the issues addressed to empower the agency staff to extract useful information from model results using a GIS. The process of moving model results to a GIS is relatively straightforward. However, certain challenges were confronted to present them in a meaningful and useful manner. MSDGC has learned that each part of the process imposes a unique set of challenges for the model owner that must be addressed for successful integration of the model into its operations. Training and educating the agency staff on a few key issues is essential to empowering them to properly extract the information necessary to support their varied needs. Three general issues are addressed in training sessions with the agency staff. They include general model theory, model capabilities and limitations, and model accuracy.
