Printing and dyeing wastewater has characteristics of high pH, poor biodegradability, complex composition, and a large amount of water, which means it remains a daunting environmental issue. The development of efficient and economic printing and dyeing wastewater treatment technology has gained considerable interest in the field of environmental protection. The performance of ultrafiltration/ forward osmosis (UF/FO) hybrid system focused on recycling valuable materials in actual printing and dyeing wastewater was investigated. The effects of pressure, temperature, membrane orientation, and feed pH on membrane performance were also studied. The results showed that the optimal pressure and temperature (T) are 0.15 MPa and 25 °C, respectively; active-layer facing feed solution (AL-FS) mode at pH 7 was used for a UF/FO hybrid system. The recovery of terephthalic acid (TPA) was 99.78% under pH 4. This paper provided a resourceful proposal for the treatment of printing and dyeing wastewater.
