The preparation of ortho-chelating aminoaryl ligands ([C 6 H 3 (CH 2 NMe 2)-2-R-4]-, abbreviated as C,N) containing a pendant hydroxymethyl group is described. These ligands have been cycloplatinated with cis-PtCl 2 (DMSO) 2 , yielding the corresponding C,N-platinum(II) complexes. The pendant hydroxymethyl substituent is a versatile group for attachment of the organometallic moiety to macromolecules, which has been demonstrated by attaching the C,N-platinum complexes to a dendritic wedge and to C 60 .
The synthesis of C 60 -attached SCS ligands ([C 6 H 2 (CH 2 SPh) 2 -2,6-R-4] ( ) is described. Starting from 4-formyl-SCS-H (2), 1,2-methanofullerene and fulleropyrrolidine SCS ligands were obtained. Subsequent palladation with [Pd(MeCN) 4 ](BF 4 ) 2 afforded the corresponding palladium(II) complexes. #
The reaction of the diamino-ligated dimethylplatinum( II ) complex [ Pt( Me)_,( bpy ) I ( bpy = 2,2'-bipyridyl ) with phenol affords the new complex [ Pt( Me 1 ( OPh ) (bpy) I ( ! ). The X-ray crystal structure of square-planar ! is reported: orthorhombic, space ~oup P2_t2t2 ~ ( No. 19), a = 9.1625 (12)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
