In the frame of P80 Solid Rocket Motor Development it was developed the world largest monolithic composite case structure. Manufactured by the Italian company AVIO using filament winding technology, it achieved its formal qualification end of 2009. This paper outlines the major milestones of the program, together with the development plan implemented for this large composite structure. Testing as well modeling activities are enhanced, with a specific emphasis on the full scale structural qualification tests and the final burst test which has led to the pronunciation of the final qualification.
