Efficient synthetic approach to a new magnesium and zinc complexes of methyl substituted tetrapyrazinoporphyrazine was developed. The optimization of reaction conditions for preparation of initial pyrazine-2,3-dicarbonitrile was carried out, using cerium ammonium nitrate as a catalyst. The target complexes were characterized by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. Spectral properties were investigated using UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Keywords: Porphyrazine, UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence, microwave irradiation, pyrazine-2,3-dicarbonitrile.
