Analysis of the relationship between personal characteristics and communication networks is needed to assess beef cattle farmer groups' performance. One of the problems in developing beef cattle farming in Indonesia is that it has not become a farmer economic institution. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between beef cattle farmers' characteristics and the communication network. The research location was a group of beef cattle farmers who were members of the Cinagarabogo Centre of smallholder livestock (SPR) in Subang Regency, West Java Province. The research took place from May to December 2019. Quantitative research with research samples was Sari Mulya Mandiri and Bina Insani farmers group. Respondents were 30 beef cattle farmers. The data collected were processed by Sociometric Analysis, Analysis of Communication Network Structure, and Spearman Rank Correlation Test. The results showed that farmer characteristics were significantly related to the communication network for all information. The limitation of this study is only looking at performance-based on communication networks. Further research is needed to study the causality model of the farmer adoption rate determinants of the group capacity strengthening program.
Entrepreneurial behavior is a series of actions of business actors to freely combine innovative resources to identify and pursue opportunities. This behavior is influenced by self-efficacy, perceptions of supporting contexts and ability to control attitudes. This study aims to identify the extent of and contributing factors to entrepreneurial behavior of broiler farmers in Banyumas. The data were collected from a survey engaging 60 farmers-members of partnership farming. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical and correlation analysis. The results showed that the entrepreneurial behavior of farmers was in high category with an average score of 65.45. Farmers have a high category of self-efficacy with an average score of 18.55. Farmers' perceptions of supporting contexts and the ability of farmers to control attitudes are in the medium category with an average of 30.04 and 33.70 respectively. There was a significant relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and self-confidence and perceptions of supporting context, but no significant relationship with the ability to control attitudes. The relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and farmer self-confidence is in the weak category, while the relationship between entrepreneurial behavior and farmers' perceptions of supporting contexts is in the moderate category.
Sentul chicken is one of indigenous poultries maintained by most people in Ciamis Regency, West Java Province. This study aimed at determining the influence of socio demographic factors on the income generated from Sentul chicken farming in Ciamis Regency. A survey method was conducted to the members of seven farmer groups institutionally assisted by the Ciamis Regency Government Unit. The descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis were used to describe the profile of respondents and to analyze the influence of socio demographic factors on the income generated from Sentul chicken farming. The results showed that the farmers’ length of education was 11.8 years with 5.8 years experience raising the Sentul chicken while the farm size was averagely 9 heads of chicken. The Sentul chicken farmmaintained in 70 days with semi-intensive production system has generated income ranging from IDR 756,000 to IDR 19,900,000. Farming experience and farm size significantly influenced the income generated from Sentul chicken farming. Increase the farming experience of Sentul chicken farmers and enlarging Sentul chicken farm size with semi-intensive production system may improve the income generated from Sentul chicken farming in Ciamis Regency.
