<em>Resident and resident assistants</em><strong> </strong><em>are designations for colonial officials assigned to assist the Governor-general of the Dutch East Indies in the administrative area of the residency level. This research aims to trace the existence of Dutch colonial heritage buildings in the administrative area of the Madiun Residency, now termed Madiun Raya, consisting of Madiun, Ponorogo, Pacitan, Ngawi, and Magetan. This research is obtained through a unit analysis research with the main subject being Dutch colonial buildings and a historical approach. The stages are heuristics (gathering sources), source criticism, interpretation, and historical writing. This research results in four findings in the form of official residences for Residents and Resident Assistants who have ruled Madiun Raya from 1830 to 1942, including the official residence of Madiun Resident, official residence of Ponorogo Resident Assistant, official residence of Pacitan Resident Assistant, and official residence of Ngawi Resident Assistant. Then, it explains the transition function of the four buildings in the present.</em>
This article aimed to find out the forms of management of Islamic philanthropic institutions using a total quality management approach in order to improve the quality of institutional services to underprivileged communities, which was the main goal of establishing Islamic philanthropic institutions. Then, the main focus was to review a book entitled “Model Tata Kelola Lembaga Filantropi Islam: Total Quality Management Approach” written by Nurodin Usman, Agus Miswanto, and Subur in 2021. This book raised a theme of discussion regarding the management of philanthropic institutions in Magelang using a total quality management approach as the main objective of writing this article. Therefore, a study unit of analysis was selected to explore the important findings presented in the book's narrative. Furthermore, several reviews from previous books were added, which had almost the same discussion on the management of Islamic philanthropic institutions. The results of this article contained a discussion about the principles in carrying out every management of Islamic philanthropic institutions using a total quality management approach in the case study in Magelang, which was described in the book, especially regarding the advantages and disadvantages of each principle carried out and how to follow up.
This article aims to review the existence of coastal cities based on structuralism theory to understand the urgency of studying maritime history in the archipelago. The archipelago has a vast ocean expanse that allows interaction between individuals in maritime activities, namely shipping, and trade. On the other hand, it also had consequences; the arrival of foreigners to the archipelago significantly impacted maritime conditions, especially in forming coastal city structures and several other supporting elements. The study used the historical method. The stages were heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Of all these things, this article discusses three structuralism ideas by Fernand Braundel and their relations to studying maritime history in the archipelago, including longue durée, conjoncture, and evenementiel.
This article attempted to find out Mujamil Qomar's perspective on religious moderation and its implementation for the Muslim community in Indonesia, which was increasingly needed by the Indonesian people. This article aimed to provide an understanding to readers of the importance of instilling the spirit of religious moderation taught by experts in the field of Islamic education and thought. This article was written using a unit analysis study in a book entitled "Moderasi Islam Indonesia: Wajah Keberagaman Progresif, Inklusif, dan Pluralis" written by Mujamil Qomar. Then, several book reviews with the same discussion on religious moderation were added to compare, complement, and continue discussions that have not been discussed in previous books. The important findings of this article explained that religious moderation was a means to select Islamic thoughts, understandings, and practices carried out in the form of violence or radicals. In addition, the researcher wanted to provide a positive view of religious moderation in Indonesia, where the Muslim community appeared very elegant, egalitarian, flexible in socializing, and able to accept opinions from people of different faiths.
Babad Tempurejo adalah salah satu jenis karya sastra dalam bentuk historiografi tradisional Jawa, yang mengisahkan berbagai peristiwa sejarah di suatu daerah kecil di Pulau Jawa, yang diberi nama Dusun Tempurejo, seiring berjalannya waktu dusun tersebut kini telah tumbuh menjadi daerah yang berkembang, khususnya pada bidang pendidikan Islam, hal itu tidak terlepas dari kontribusi para tokoh ulama yang membuka lahan baru supaya nantinya dapat dijadikan tempat tinggal banyak orang, kemudian mendakwahkan ajaran Islam di sana. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk meninjau secara kritis teks Babad Tempurejo, yang di dalamnya memuat peristiwa penting seputar Dusun Tempurejo, serta diharapkan mampu memberikan pemahaman kepada pembaca tentang pentingnya melestarikan sejarah lokal. Adapun metode yang dipakai adalah metode deskriptif-analisis dan pendekatan sejarah, yang tahapannya meliputi heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi, penelitian ini menghasilkan tiga temuan, sebagai berikut: 1) Perkembangan Islam melalui peran ulama yang menanamkan nilai-nilai keagamaan kepada masyarakat, 2) Upaya menjaga kedaulatan wilayah dari pengaruh bangsa kolonial Belanda, dan 3) Adanya tradisi lisan yang digunakan dalam penulisan Babad Tempurejo, sebagai sarana untuk melestarikan sejarah lokal.
