Oxygen is life essential so it is important for nurses who are responsible for oxygen administration to be familiar with its Indications and potential hazards. Aim: To investigate the effect of educational program about oxygen therapy on the nurses' knowledge and nurses' practice. Design: A Quasi experimental research design was used. Setting: The study was carried in pediatric emergency unit at Assuit pediatric University Hospital. Subjects: All available nurses in the emergency department who were (50) nurses. Tools: Two tools were utilized, Tool (1): Structure Interview Questionnaire to assess nurses' knowledge, Tool (2): Nurses' practice observational check list to assess performance. Method: preparatory, implementation and evaluation phases were used to implement study. Results: The total nurses' knowledge mean score improved from (9.080±4.818) before educational program to (19.840±.421) after its implementation, and total nurses' performance mean score improved from (63.0400 ± 7.94101) before implementation of educational program to (97.9200± .39590) after its implementation. There was good improvement with highly significant difference (p<0.001) related to knowledge and practice of educational program. Conclusion: Majority of nurses had a satisfactory level of knowledge and practice toward oxygen therapy after applying educational program. Recommendations: Provide in-service education and training program for nurses regarding oxygen therapy.
Background Many patients admitted to coronary care unit(CCU) and receive several drugs, these drugs save their life at the other hand these drugs are considered threatened to their life so that nurses should ensure that is safe and effective through careful evaluation of the patient's response to therapy by direct observation of physiological measures Aim of this study: was to evaluate the effect of teaching program about drugs that affect blood coagulation on nurses' performance in CCU. Study design: Quasi experimental (pre-posttest) design was used. Setting: the study was conducted in CCU at Assuit General Hospital. Sample: (30) nurses from the previous mentioned setting. Tools; two tools: were utilized in the present study Tool (1) Knowledge assessment tool by using structure interview questionnaire for nurses was utilized, Tool (2) Assessment tool for nurses' practice by using observational check list for nurses' practice was utilized, Results: nurses' knowledge was improved significant from 25.8±6.48 to 60.63±1.19 and nurses practice was improved from 103.87±9.83 to 169.9±1.86 after implementation of teaching program about drugs that effect blood coagulation in CCU. Recommendation: continues nursing education and training program at CCU should be organized regarding drugs affecting blood coagulation.
Background: scorpion stings represent an important and serious public health problem worldwide owing to their high incidence and potentially severe and often fatal clinical manifestations. Aim: Evaluate the effect of teaching program on nurse's performance about scorpion sting. Study design: Quasi experimental research design was utilized in this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Medical Emergency Unite in Assiut University. Sample all available nurses who were working at medical emergency unite. The sample size was (30) nurses. Tools: Two tools were used for data collection, Tool (1) Nurses' knowledge assessment sheet and Nurses' practices assessment tool. Method: preparatory, implementation and evaluation phases were used to implement study. Results: The total nurses' knowledge mean score improved from (9.23±2.69) pre educational program to (16.6±1.73) post its implementation, and total nurses' practice mean score improved from (81.13 ± 8) pre implementation of educational program to (110.13± 5.66) post its implementation. There was good improvement with highly significant difference (p<0.001) related to knowledge and practice. Conclusion: Majority of nurses had a satisfactory level of knowledge and practice toward scorpion sting after applying educational program. Recommendation: Nurses need in-service training programs and refreshing courses to improve their knowledge and practice.
