Background: Stingless bees is one group of eusocial insects living together in the hive. There are around 46 species of stingless bee in Indonesia with different morphological, morphometric and hive structure characteristics. This study aimed to describe the morphological, morphometric and beehives structure of Tetragonula laeviceps from Yogyakarta. Methods: Survey method is used by taking three sampling points of bamboo, house building and livestock crates in Bantul Regency. Sampling points determined by Purposive sampling method. An XSZ-107 BN binocular microscope analyzed samples of T. laeviceps with Optilab viewer and Image Raster software. Results: The results showed morphological characters of T. laeviceps are dominated shiny-black body, brownish-yellow antennas, klipeus on a head covered by fine silver hair, brownish-yellow mandible with two teeth, mesonotum in thorax covered by brownish to black hair, scutellum extended to propodeum, the ribbon of hair on the dorsal thorax is not very clear, and the hind tibia is rather hairy. Morphometric of T. laeviceps included body length between 3.44 - 3.76 mm, head width 1.55 - 1.70 mm, front wing length with tegula 3.76 - 4.37 mm, length of rear limbs tibia 1.37-1.57 mm, and the number of hamuli as many as 5. The beehive structure consisted of oval-shaped entrance formed funnel and varying internal hive in terms of the number of saplings, pollen cells, and honey cells. Conclusions: T. laeviceps have morphological, morphometric and hive structure characteristics that are different from other species and variated compared to similar species from other regions.
Chili is a widely cultivated plant by the community because of its profit. Currently, in maintaining the quality of chili, people commonly use a lot of pesticides. In contrast, naturally, there are biological agents in the shape of natural enemy insects, more effective, and environmentally friendly. This study aims to determine the diversity, abundance, and distribution patterns of natural enemy insects in chili plantation (Capsicum annum L.) at Bincau Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. The sample is collected by pitfall trap, yellow pan trap, and sweep net method. Obtained data are analyzed by Shannon Wienner index (H'), Meyer abundance index, Morisita index (Id), and PCA method for environmental parameter analysis. The results showed the diversity of natural enemy insects on chili plants was moderate (H' = 2.396). Furthermore, the highest abundance in research is demonstrated on Hymenoptera order, which consisted of 9 families, 16 species, and 1,009 individuals. The distribution pattern of natural enemy insects in chili plantations is clustered (Id > 1). Based on the PCA analysis method, the temperature has the most impact on natural enemy insects' presence in this study.
Aquatic insects are groups of insects that most of their life in the water body. Aquatic insects are part of macrozoobenthos. Aquatic insects are very important roles in the ecological system due to various reasons. Insects are bio-indicators of water in water bodies such as rivers. The aims of the study were to determine the diversity and the potential roles of aquatic insects in the Kali Batu Anyar ecosystem. The research method used purposive random sampling method. The sampling of the data was conducted by Surber nets. The samples obtained were identified and analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener index. The result consist of 6 Orders, 10 Families and 4 Genus were founded. According to the Shannon-Wiener diversity index of (H'), the diversity of aquatic insects in the upper Kali Batu Anyar was higher than the bottom part of the river with value of H’ was 3,6. By using SIGNAL 2 grade, Order Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera and Coleoptera were grouped to be very sensitive and a sensitive insect therefore those can be used as indicator for water quality. It can be concluded that Kali Batu Anyar was in good water conditions.
Wildlife is one of the biological natural resources that can be use it sustainably and sustainably, because wildlife is a natural resource renewable or renewable biological (renewable resources). This study aims to determine public perception of the exixtence of Macaca hecki and Macaca tonkeana in Protected Forest and Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve of Central Sulawesi. This research was carried out along the Palu-Parigi trans road which is in the Protected Forest and Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve, Central Sulawesi Province in April - June 2021. The results showed that presence of endemic Sulawesi macaque (M. hecki and M. tonkeana) along the Palu-Parigi trans road which is in the Protected Forest and Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve area causes various problems such as people experiencing unpleasant events with the presence of macaque, stolen goods, enter into community plantations, and damage various types of agricultural crops (avocado, cloves, cocoa, and several other fruits).
