The synthesis and reactions of 5-aminouracil and its derivatives are comprehensively reviewed. A brief survey of biological activities, especially chemotherapeutic and pharmacological properties, is also reported.

An efficient and direct procedure for the synthesis of pyrido [3,2-d:6,5-d ]dipyrimidine derivatives under microwave-assisted conditions is been described. The structures of the products were characterized by elemental analyses, and their IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and MS spectra.
