Salbutamol patches were prepared and evaluated. The effect of different Eudragits and various plasticizers on the properties of the patches were studied. Patches were prepared by casting method employing different plasticizers. These patches were evaluated for weight, thickness uniformity, swelling index, tensile strength, elongation percent and moisture absorption capacity. Release was studied. Tensile strength of the patches using Eudragit RS 100 as well as RS100 + L100 and triacetin was the lowest. Formulae containing 10% oleic acid and 5% dimethyl formamide, respectively, showed the highest permeability. These two formulae were studied clinically, the first formula only showed a significant improvement.
A four-year old Sudanese child presented with a growing mass in the medial aspect of the right thigh. The mass appeared during the neonatal period. On clinical examination a diagnosis of lipoblastoma was entertained on the basis of the patient's age and the clinical features of the mass. The tumor was completely excised surgically. The clinical diagnosis of lipoblastoma was confirmed pathologically. Follow-up of the patient for 6 months postoperatively showed no evidence of recurrence.
Multi-detector row computed tomography urography (MDCTU) becomes the imaging modality of choice for evaluation of the kidneys and urinary tract. The aim of this study was to discuss and illustrate the role of MDCTU, on a 32-row CT scanner in the evaluation a variety of entities that were frequently associated with microscopic hematuria in adults. This prospective cohort study was performed in the period of August 2013 to October 2014. Fifty positive participants to microscopic hematuria were examined at the radiology department of Alnilin Diagnostic Medical Center and Antalya Medical Center. Computed tomography urography (CTU) scanning was performed using two powerful performances, high speed multi-detector row on 32-row CT scanners (Siemens Healthcare Global, Somatom Emotion Duo Eco). Statistical analysis was done through the standard Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) version 15 for windows. MDCTU established the correct cause of microscopic hematuria in (44; 88%) of participants. In (6; 12%) of participants, no cause of hematuria was identified based on the standard of references. The causes of hematuria in (41; 82%) participants were diseases in the upper urinary tract, while urinary bladder neoplasms (2; 4%) and diverticulum (1; 2%) were the causes of hematuria (3; 6%) in the lower urinary tract. Thirty two-row MDCTU scanner demonstrated satisfactory results in
Introduction: TMJ Internal Derangement is a common form of temporomandibular joint disorder. Almost 80% of adult symptomatic patients with TMD have some form of ID. Temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis consists of lavage of upper joint space of TMJ done with no direct vision, aiming primarily to remove necrotic tissue, blood and pain mediators from the joint. One of these therapeutic substances is hyaluronic acid; which is a polysaccharide of the family of glycosaminoglycans, which can be found in many extracellular tissues, including synovial fluid and cartilage. Simvastatins are group of drugs which have good results in regeneration of degenerated TMJ.Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the intra-articular injection of simvastatin versus sodium hyaluronate following arthrocentesis for management of internal derangement (ID) of the temporomandibular joint(TMJ). Patients and methods: Thirty patients with internal TMJ derangement were included in this study. All patients were subjected to preoperative clinical examination and preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the affected joints. Arthrocentesis was performed firstly for the affected joints in all patients followed by intra-articular injection of 1ml. simvastatin twice a month (in group I) and sodium hyaluronate twice a month ( in group II).Clinical follow up were done at 24 hours post-operatively, one week, one month, and six months. Then, after six months MRI was repeated to compare with preoperative images. Results: Better results were recorded with simvastatin group in comparison to sodium hyaluronate group; at 1 week, 1 month, and six months intervals; which was superior to arthrocentesis followed by sodium hyaluronate intra-articular injection. Patients in group I showed better MRI findings in comparison to group II where the position of the disc was almost returned to its normal anatomical position. Conclusion: Arthrocentesis followed by simvastatin intra-articular injection was superior to the combination of arthrocentesis and sodium hyaluronate intra-articular injection for management of TMJ internal derangements symptoms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
