The present study aimed at investigating the effect of brainstorming strategy on EFL learners' writing performance. To this end, eighty four Iranian EFL intermediate learners were invited in this study. Their performance on the pretest and posttest in both experimental and control groups has been taken into account. As data analysis indicated, the experimental group's performance on the post test was considerably higher than that of their performance on the pre-test. The results of the Analysis of Covariance revealed that the instruction of brainstorm strategy had a positive effect on EFL learners' writing achievements. It also made them more active, which might make them responsible for their own learning and likely to learn better.
The aim of the current study was to investigate the impact of indirect corrective feedback on promoting Iranian high school students' spelling accuracy in English (as a foreign language). It compared the effect of direct feedback with indirect feedback on students' written work dictated by their teacher from Chicken Soup for the Mother and Daughter Soul. The study was conducted at the gifted girls' high school in Saveh, Iran. A sample of 56 high school sophomores was randomly assigned to two equal groups of 28. Group 1 (the direct feedback group) and Group 2 (the indirect feedback group) were treated differently regarding their spelling errors for five weeks. Statistical analysis based on GLMRM test revealed that indirect feedback was more effective than direct feedback in rectifying students' spelling errors.
Nickel oxide/cobalt phthalocyanine (NiO-CoPc) nanocomposite is synthesized by solvent evaporation method. The synthesized nanocomposite is characterized for thermal, structural, and optical properties. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis results proved the thermal stability of the sample. XRD patterns revealed an average crystallite size of 16 and 17.5 nm, respectively, for the pure and nanocomposite samples. The formation of NiO/CoPc nanocomposite is confirmed by the FTIR results. The characteristic B and Q bands of metal phthalocyanines are visible in the absorption spectrum. A decrease in band gap and an enhanced absorption in the visible region are observed for the nanocomposite. The PL emission spectrum of the nanocomposite exhibits fluorescence quenching which makes them suitable for solar cells and photocatalysis. This work constitutes the first report on the synthesis and characterization of the NiO/CoPc nanocomposite.
In this current study the researchers have tried to investigate the possible effect of authentic and non-authentic texts on Iranian EFL learners' vocabulary retention. Despite the great deal of studies conducted in the area of EFL/ESL learning, the effect of authentic versus non-authentic texts have almost gained little attention and been underresearched. To this end and to fill this gap, the sample selection was done by a proficiency PET (Preliminary English Test). So, out of 114 EFL learners, 74 learners both male and female were chosen as the participants to take part in the research. The findings from repeated measurement test revealed that authentic versus non-authentic texts and also the learners' gender have no impact on EFL learners' vocabulary retention ability.
