Aquaculture activities cannot be separated from the availability of artificial feed, even 70% of the total production cost is spent on feed, so the availability of good feed, in terms of quality and quantity, is an effort to maintain the success of aquaculture activities. Feeds with high protein have relatively higher prices because some of their raw materials still rely on imports from other countries. The solution to this problem is to use alternative feed ingredients that have good nutritional content, are easy to obtain and do not compete with humans. Organic waste originating from food scraps and agricultural industry residues has considerable potential. However, it is necessary to have a fermentation process as an effort to improve the nutrition and quality of these materials. The purpose of this paper is to determine the extent of utilization of fermented organic waste as fish feed ingredients that can help improve fish growth performance. Keywords:Alternative feed ingredientsFermentationFish feedOrganic waste
As an educational city, Jatinangor has a fairly large population density. In turn, it generates restaurant organic waste in large quantities. Excessive production of organic waste will be a problem if it is not accompanied by good management and utilization. One of the efforts in utilizing restaurant waste is to turn the waste as fish feed. This study aims to calculate the production of restaurant waste and analyze the cost of production of fish feed using restaurant waste flour. The production of restaurant waste was calculated using purposive random sampling, while the cost of feed production was determined by using variable costing method. Questionnaires and research primary data were used to collect data. The results obtained from this study were as such: production of restaurant waste in the Jatinangor area is 261.7 Kg/day, the cost of production for fish feed with the basic ingredients of restaurant waste flour is 70,013,127 IDR with a production capacity of 6,913.1 kg of fish feed per year, so that the cost of feed per kilogram is 10,127.60 IDR, and the selling price of feed is 12,200 IDR/kilogram with a profit of 20%. Thus, it can be seen that independent feed production using restaurant waste can be a solution in the utilization of waste and can also be used as a source of income for the surrounding community.
Industrial revolution 4.0 is a transition from manual process to automation processes were based on computer technology capabilities. Technological development towards the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data must begin with the digitization process in all sector, including fisheries and aquaculture. Digitization in fisheries has brought many changes to the process of cultivation and catching fish. Time, cost, and labor efficiency are the main advantages of digitizing fisheries. The purpose of this paper is to determine the extent to which the digitization in fisheries, especially aquaculture, the method used in this paper is systematic literature review. The process of digitizing aquaculture can be seen from various aspects, including pre-production aspects (determination of cultivation locations using GIS), production aspects (using automatic feeders and automatic water quality testing tools can improve resource efficiency), and post-production aspects (utilization of digital marketing).
