Rose flower extract containing high levels of anthocyanin pigment has the potential to be further processed into healthy functional drinks. The addition of natural flavor to the production process is expected to improve the sensory and functional aspects of this rose extract-based drink. The research was aimed to study the effect of natural flavor addition at various concentration on pH, total dissolved solids, color intensity, sensory quality, total anthocyanin levels, and antioxidant activity of rose extract-based drink. Rose filtrate was obtained by maceration method using water solvent. The added natural flavors were mint leaves, ginger and lemon juice, with concentration levels of 1.5% (b/v), 3% and 4% (v/v). Antioxidant activity and anthocyanin levels were determined using the DPPH and pH difference methods, respectively. Sensory quality was determined using hedonic rating test with test parameters of taste and flavour. The results showed that different types and concentrations of natural flavors significantly affected the pH, redness and yellowish level of rose extract-based drink. The addition of natural flavors significantly enhanced its antioxidant activity. While the concentration of natural flavor only affected its total dissolved solids. The increase in total anthocyanin content of rose juice extract due to the addition of mint leaves is 46.48%, ginger is 34.50% and lemon is 16.70%. Based on the results, the best treatment was shown by rose extract-based drink with the addition of 3% of mint leaves given the antioxidant activity of 84.44%, brightness (L) of 35.30, redness (a +) of 8.00, yellowness (b +) of 4.60, pH value of 3.45, total dissolved solids of 21.17 ° Brix, total anthocyanin level of 12.14 mg/L, taste score of 3.20 (quite tasty) and flavor score of 3.27 (quite like).
Artificial insemination using sexing semen is expected to produce calves with the desired sex. One sexing sperm method is the percoll density gradient centrifugation method. This study aimed to determine the changes and the relationship between motility and acrosome reaction after sexing process using percoll density gradient centrifugation. The material used was semen of ±5 years old Ongole crossbred bull with a bodyweight of ±700 kg as many as three bulls with mass motility 2+ and individual motility 70%. The method used was to compare fresh semen with sexed semen after the cooling process. Parameters measured were motility characters using CASA analysis, which included motility parameters, progressive motility, capacitation, and no acrosome reaction. Statistical analysis used paired T-test to distinguish among fresh semen, after sexing and cooling process. In comparison, regression and correlation were used to analyze the relationship of capacitation and hyperactivation sperm with no acrosomal reaction with motility and progressive motility. The results showed that motility and progressive motility decreased after the sexing and cooling process. Meanwhile, the acrosomal reaction, capacitation, and hyperactivity increased.
Gout is a disease that attacks the joint area, caused by consuming too many foods with high purine content, and sufferers feel pain and swelling in the joints. One ofthe ways to reduce pain by compressing with ginger. This study aims to apply the way in order to reduce on the elderly with gout. The result stated both have decreased pain scale. The first patients has decreased the scalen from 5 to 2, and the latter had decreased the scale from 4 to 2, Furthermore, the patients and the family finally have understood the treatment of gout. Therefore, it can be concluded that compressing theraphy with ginger can reduce pain in the joints of eldery patients with gout. Tujuan dari studi kasus ini adalah menerapkan kompres jahe untuk mengurangi nyeri pada lansia penderita asam urat.Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif, yaitu metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dengan cara mendeskripsikan atau menggambarkan data yang telah terkumpul. Hasil studi kasus ini pasien I dan II terjadi penurunan skala nyeri pasien I dari skala 5 menjadi 2 dan pasien II dari skala 4 menjadi 2, serta memahami perawatan pada asam urat. Kesimpulan studi kasus ini bahwa terapi kompres jahe dapat menurunkan nyeri pada persendian pasien lansia penderita asam urat.
