PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate how digital platforms capability, improvisational capability and organizational readiness directly affect innovation performance. This study also explores how organizational readiness acts as mediator.Design/methodology/approachThis empirical study is based on quantitative research design. Data were collected from 647 managers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) working in Pakistan. Correlations and regression techniques were used for analyses. The Preacher and Hayes technique, the Sobel test and Bootstrap techniques were used to test mediation effect.FindingsThe results reveal a significant and positive relationship of digital platforms capability, improvisational capability and organizational readiness with innovation performance. Organizational readiness fully mediates the relationships between digital platforms capability and innovation performance link as well as between improvisational capability and innovation performance link.Originality/valueIn the age of digital economy the achievement of innovation performance is very important for SMEs. Businesses are shifting from traditional operational activities to digitalization. This study is imperative to offer new realm of modern technologies by exploring the role of digital platform capability, improvisational capability and organizational readiness for achieving innovation performance in digital economy.
It is necessary for a country to make its agriculture sector
efficient to enhance food security, quality of life and to promote rapid
economic growth. The evidence from least developed countries (LDCs)
indicates that agriculture sector accounts for a large share in their
gross domestic product (GDP). Thus the development of the economy cannot
be achieved without improving the agriculture sector. According to the
Economic Survey of Pakistan (2011-12) its main natural resource is
arable land and agriculture sector’s contribution to the GDP is 21
percent. The agricultural sector absorbs 45 percent of labour force and
its share in exports is 18 percent. Given the role of agricultural
sector in economic growth and its sensitivity to change in temperature
and precipitation it is important to study the impact of climate change
on major crops in Pakistan. There are two crops seasons in Pakistan
namely, Rabi and Kharif. Rabi crops are grown normally in the months of
November to April and Kharif crops are grown from May to October. These
two seasons make Pakistan an agricultural economy and its performance
depends on the climate during the whole year. Climate change generally
affects agriculture through changes in temperature,
precipitation.
BACKGROUND: In the global economy, motivating people to engage and stay in their work is a challenge for organizations. Researchers are increasingly recognizing the need for promoting strong employee engagement in the workplace. OBJECTIVE: This paper examines the effect of employee work engagement on turnover intention. The study focuses on the mediating role of trust that underpins the relationship between employee work engagement and turnover intention, and the moderating role of job embeddedness in influencing the effect of trust. METHOD: Survey data were collected from 418 employees from private media organizations. Hierarchical regression analysis and moderated mediation analysis were employed to test the hypotheses.
RESULTS:The results indicate that trust mediates the relationship between employee work engagement and turnover intention. Job embeddedness moderates the strength of the mediated relationship between employee work engagement and turnover intention via trust, such that the mediated relationship is weaker under high job embeddedness than under low job embeddedness. CONCLUSION: This paper described the relationships among the concepts of work engagement, job embeddedness, trust, and turnover intention from a novel direction. Theoretical and practical consequences of these findings are discussed.
